Founded by local scuba divers and instructors in 1971, we are a not-for-profit club made up of individuals of diverse ages and from all walks of life with one thing in common: we all share a love of scuba diving.

The Sea Gypsies host local boat, beach and lake diving events, as well as dive trips out of the New York City area. We also frequent social events and a regular lecture series. Past speakers include Jill Heinerth, Stan Waterman, Michael Aw, Amos Nachoum, Christina Zenato, Jonathan Bird, Glenn Butler, John Chatterton, Herb Segars, Richie Kohler, David Concannon, Becky Kagan Schott, Gareth Lock, Bernie Chowdhury, Mike Emmerman, and Gary Gentile, as well as many other divers, photographers, and explorers from around the world. There are also plenty of opportunities to socialize!
Hello Sea Gypsies and friends!

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we are suspending in-person club events for the time being. This includes our regular monthly club meetings and our NYUPS photo and video sessions. I hope we can resume meeting in person in the near future, but the timing of that has yet to be determined. Right now the priority is preventing the spread of illness.

With that in mind, we have been providing a busy schedule of videoconferencing events (via Zoom) for our our
club meeting, our guest lecturers and the New York Underwater Photographic Society (NYUPS). The link for each of these is sent out to all members in good standing - click here to join the club.

While it is disappointing to not be able to hang together, the public health must come first. May we all be healthy and stay safe.

Dive Schedule
The Sea Gypsies dive actively all year round. Our diving schedule contains both local boat diving charters, shore diving opportunities and dive trips - it can be found here. Members also have access to special club diving events.

Executive Committee
The club relies on the efforts of members who volunteer to be officers on the Executive Committee. All of these jobs are open to any active member in good standing.

Six of these positions are elected by the membership at the November meeting. These officers make up the Board of Directors, who vote on various club matters as per the
bylaws, and who appoint the additional non-elected members of the Executive Committee.
